Adpol is currently developing a new grade of thermally conductive Silicone rubber which offers performance approaching copper loaded silicones, but at a fraction of the price.
Our 60 Shore A, AP33517 grade of thermally conductive Silicone rubber is ceramic loaded and gives a thermal conductivity value of 1.13W/(mk) compared to standard Silicone 0.24. We have successfully extruded small profiles in this compound and in theory should be able to extrude other profiles and tube in exactly the same manner as our standard Silicones.
We will also be able to cut and join thermally conductive Silicone rubber profiles and tube in this compound into O Ring or Letter Box gaskets.
Traditionally metal loaded compounds have been the best solution when looking for thermally conductive polymers. But these can be very expensive and restrictive in terms of the hardness’s available, thermally conductive Silicone rubber offers a fresh approach to this area.
To have a new die cut and samples for you will cost £200 – £300 and take 2 – 3 weeks.
